Description: Virulent denunciation of the American presence and influence in France, from military bases to the cinema, including Coca-Cola and children's newspapers, symbols of "gangsterism" and "racism". Faced with American civilization and its "war policy", the workers of SNECMA, the miners of Auchel, the dockers, the French consumers "appreciating good wine", the communist militants (young salesmen of the Avant-Garde " militant against the 18 months", reader of L'Humanité turning off his radio...) and, finally, the leaders of the P.C.F. (Maurice Thorez at the Buffalo stadium) stood up. The eviction of Frédéric Joliot-Curie from the High Commission for Atomic Energy, in April 1950, is attributed to American politics. This activist short film mixes documentary shots with fictional images (the Coca-Cola salesman chased out of the bistro by French wine-loving consumers). "Les Américains en Amérique" is a testimony to the anti-Americanism of the P.C.F. during the Cold War period.
